Bristol City is where the brains are - literally. The Beeb has a report on the South West Dementia Brain Bank, part of the University of Bristol, which stockpiles brains for research into brain function and disease. The stored tissue is supplied to projects around the UK and abroad.

Around 14,000 donations are held by the UK Brain Bank Network. In recent decades, examinations of the donated tissue has helped uncover the background to a range of neurological conditions laying the ground for cures or improved treatments.
